With government officials in Burundi insisting that the Burundian head of state death was as a result of heart attack,medical sources at the Kurusi hospital where he died has confirmed that the president died of covid-19 related disease.

According to doctors at the hospital where he died ,the president was in 'respiratory distress' before his death.Medics at Kamenge university hospital in Bujumbera told AFP that the head of institute of public health requested their hospital's only ventilator and head of our reanimination service 'in the name of the presidency' on Monday at 10am.
The president was flown to the hospital in Karusi but it was 'too late',he was already dead ',a media source in Karusi said.
Suspicions had been high the president had covid-19 after his wife was hospitalized at the end of May with the virus.A medical document seen by AFP said she had tested positive for the virus and suffered 'respiratory disease'.

Nkurunziza had reportedly felt unwell on June 6,2020 and to very great surprised,his health worsened,leading to a cardiac arrest from which he died at the hospital,officials had said.
The government of Burundi is yet to announce a date for his funeral,but is marking the seven-day period of national mourning,during which it has banned music in bars,night clubs and Karaoke,a statement said.
