The 2019/2020 academic session of Awendo media college has come to an end.This was revealed via a message from the college HOD Advanment office,Nankpak Cirfat,through the college's vice chancellor,Chigozie Kendrick on (the college's) whatsapp platforms.
The message reads;
"Dear Students,
The Board of Directors of Awendo Media College has approved the 6th of June, 2020 as the date for the closure of the first session. The Board has also approved the 15th of June as the date for resumption of Academic activities of the second academic session."
The closure of the online college,as revealed by Mr.Cirfat will enable the executives to carryout some functions for the betterment of next session.
" This decision is to allow the Board of Directors to complete the remodelling of the college".he said
The closure of the college for one week will be executed in the following order.
1. Restriction of members from communicating on the platform.
2. Eviction of redundant members
3.Suspension of all planned lectures on national platform.
4. Creation of a new division of AMC in other states of Nigeria.
" It is important to note that the restriction of activities on the National Forum".he added.
He also made known that "All existing campuses are expected to continue with their usual activities."
"For the avoidance of doubt, Bayero University Kano(BUK) campus, University of Benin Campus and Uj/Poly platforms are the campuses been referred to".he added
The vice chancellor categorically stated that students of Awendo Media college who wishes to join the college's media team need not to pay any fee.The registration to join the media team is totally FREE!!,as it was setup to develop the journalistic skills of the students.He also encouraged members to join.
Reacting to this he wrote,
" The attention of the VC was drawn to comments made by those who demanded to be paid before they join the media team.
While this comments are stunning, the VC wishes to remind members that this platform was setup for them. Members are encouraged to take advantage of the platforms and use them to horn their journalist/social media skills".
"The board will also love to encourage members to not just learn but practice what they have learnt. Join the media team and help the team to create content".he said .
He also revealed that students of the college may have to apply for certain courses next session.
"When the break is over, Students might have to apply for admission to take certain courses."he said.
The HOD also revealed plans for University of Jos campus next session.
"Furthermore, Management will like to reiterate it's position on University of Jos campus.
" The campus will be expanded to accommodate students from Plapoly, NTA college and Plateau State University Bokkos."he said
He also made known to those concerned that Joshua Odidi will remain the Campus Admin Representative,and shall reserve the power to totally dissolve the Rep team and appoint new members. This action is subject to review by the Board of Directors.
"The Board of Directors will love to assure you that things will not remain the same when the college resumes."he added.
"The Board will also love to emphasize for Unijos Students that there is no feud between SMPN and AMC,members of AMC can also be members of SMPN. There is no competition and love lost between the both organizations."he revealed.
They might also be a slight change in the administrative unit.
In his message,hesaid "Nevertheless, in line with the restructuring efforts the VC has recommended the immediate dismissal of the old board that failed the integrity and commitment test. Their position will be declared vacant in the coming weeks and new people will be brought in."
The HOD also used the opportunity to urge the students to wage war against rape and it's perpetrators.
"It's also important to note that during the break we want our members to wage an online war against rape and it's perpetrators."
"The college will be providing pictures and videos but mostly pictures and we appeal to our members to simply share those images on their social media platforms".he added.
The board will release list of approved faculties for the coming session.
In his conclusive remarks he said,
"We appreciate very member of the College for their commitment and growth and assure them that the best is yet to come.
"As you enjoy the break remember you can only better your best by practice.

The college had a very educative and enlightening session with various lecturers,OAPs,writers,content creators,poets and Jonalists lecturing the students ,next session promises to be better as stated by Mr.Nankpak Cirfat on his closing remarks.
