YUL EDOCHIE BLASTS TEACHERS WHO FLOGGED STUDENTS FOR SPEAKING NATIVE LANGUAGE IN CLASS.

Nollywood actor,Yul Edochie has taken to Twitter to expres his dissatisfaction as to how Nigerian teachers subjects students to punishment for speaking their native language in school.

English has been regarded as the only acceptable language to converse for most schools in Nigeria and when students speak their mother tongues (native language),it is regarded as vernacular and as such student who are caught speaking it,is subjected to different forms of punishment depending on the rules of the school. Some of these punishments include, paying a fine, flogging them or observing physical punishment.

According to the popular film star,Yul Edochie, teachers who flog their students for speaking their  tongue should be ashamed of themselves.

Yul's opinion led to some interesting reactions on Twitter. One of these reactions is from popular fashionista and entrepreneur,Noble Igwe.
He wrote "Nwanne, schools had/has rules and regulations and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.Same as places of works.English is still the official language,we need to obey rules and regulations.
